Building on the core technologies developed for JL Audio’s TW5 thin-line subwoofers, the TW3 series embodies a powerful combination of shallow mounting depth and long linear excursion capability. The result is a speaker that delivers big, impressive sub-bass performance in a compact form that works for those snug-fit installations.
Engineered for big sound from tight spaces: Thanks to the TW3 thin-line architecture, the deep, powerful and articulate JL Audio bass is now accessible in more applications than ever. The 10-inch subwoofers require only 3.25 inches of mounting depth, while the 12-inch models take just 3.50 inches.
Design accents: An aluminum-alloy dust cap aids with heat dissipation, extending the speaker’s power handling range. A JL Audio logo adds a finishing accent to the dust cap’s rich satin black finish.
Polypropylene Cone Technology: Known for its durability, the TW3 series’ injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone design offers impressive frequency response and deep, powerful bass reproduction with minimal distortion.
Dynamic motor analysis (DMA) optimized design: Proprietary motor, suspension and cone modeling systems are used to achieve long, linear excursion capabilities with low distortion and powerful sound output. The result is tight, clean, articulate bass performance at all power levels.
Space-saving frame design: Benefiting from years of JL Audio woofer design experience, the robust TW3 series speakers feature purpose-engineered cast-alloy frames that have been modified for even greater strength. A space-saving tab-ear frame design helps to maximize cone area within the woofer’s mounting footprint.
Powerfully adaptable: On a wide range of vehicle applications, with sealed or ported enclosures, TW3 subwoofers deliver superb sound quality and power handling. Both the 10- and 12-inch versions support pairing with amplifiers in the 200- to 400-Watt range.
Concentric tube suspension technology: The TW3 series features a patented concentric tube structure built into the injection-molded speaker cone body. This structure supports the voice coil and a full annular spider while permitting the placement of a large motor structure farther forward in the speaker than with conventional designs.
Engineered lead-wire system: Carefully engineered lead-wire design and attachments ensure controlled, quiet lead-wire behavior under the most extreme excursion demands.
Engineering enhancements are ongoing and may not be reflected in the pictures, videos and specifications.

*For one-way linear excursion (Xmax), specs are derived via one-way voice coil overhang method with no correction factors applied.
** Grille insert sold separately. See JL Audio SGR-10TW3 for the 10-inch black steel mesh grille insert available for the 10-inch TW3 subwoofer.
*** Enclosure volumes listed are net internal volumes. Box volume displacement, port displacement and brace displacement must be added to obtain the final gross internal volume. All enclosure dimensions listed have already taken this into account. See Manual for additional details.
JL Audio notes: The enclosure recommendations listed above are external dimensions which assume the use of 0.75 in (19 mm) thick material. If you are using 0.625 in (16 mm) thick material, subtract 0.25 in (6.5 mm) from each dimension. Do not use any material with a thickness of less than 0.625 in (16 mm) as this may compromise the rigidity of the enclosure.
All enclosure volumes listed above are net internal volumes! Driver displacement, port displacement and brace displacement must be added to obtain the final gross internal volume. All enclosure dimensions above have already taken this into account.
When using multiples in a common enclosure you will need to recalculate the enclosure and port dimensions. For assistance please contact your authorized JL Audio dealer or JL Audio Technical Support.
JL Audio recommends the use of this in a bi-amplified system using high-quality satellites and a high-quality amplifier. They do not recommend the use of this with a passive crossover (coil), as this type of device will adversely affect performance.
Due to continual development, product and specifications are subject to change without notice. Garmin, JL Audio and its agents are not responsible for typographical errors.
