12W6v3-D4 12-Inch, 4-Ohm DVC Subwoofer,
KNOCKOUT BASS. IN A SMALL-BOX SPACE. Sharing key groundbreaking technologies with the flagship W7 series, the W6v3 series subwoofers represent a giant leap forward in the quest for small-box bass perfection. Offering extra-long linear excursion capability and powerful magnetic systems, these robust 10- and 12-inch woofers deliver strong, articulate sub-bass performance characterized by low distortion levels well below audibility throughout the driver’s dynamic range.
ENGINEERED FOR BIG SOUND FROM SMALL ENCLOSURES: Offering powerful advantages in motor structure, linearity and suspension technology, the W6v3 series subwoofers are purpose-built to deliver deep, rich, evenly balanced bass output from impressively compact enclosures.
DYNAMIC MOTOR ANALYSIS (DMA) OPTIMIZED DESIGN: Proprietary motor, suspension and cone modeling systems are used to achieve long, linear excursion capabilities with low distortion and powerful sound output. A flat, progressive-roll spider ensures linear compliance over the woofers' impressive 0.75-inch excursion range.
POLYPROPYLENE CONE TECHNOLOGY: An injection-molded, mineral-filled polypropylene cone structure with rubber surround offers crisp, strong bass output matched with the rigidity and durability to withstand extended play at high volume levels. A silver accent ring and distinctive JL Audio medallion add finishing touches to the look.
CUSTOM ACCENTS: For a personalized look, the black ABS trim ring included with your subwoofer can be custom painted to match the color scheme of your installation.
RIGID CAST-ALLOY STRUCTURE: Benefiting from years of JL Audio woofer design experience, the W6v3 models feature solid cast-alloy frames that allow your subwoofer to handle serious power without the structural flexing that can distort sound quality.
POWERFULLY ADAPTABLE: On a wide range of vehicle applications, with sealed or ported enclosures, W6v3 subwoofers deliver superb sound quality and power handling. Both the 10- and 12-inch versions support pairing with amplifiers in the 200- to 600-Watt range.
ELEVATED FRAME COOLING: The patented JL Audio elevated frame cooling design creates a pathway for high-velocity air to flow directly across the top plate of the speaker voice coil — cooling it for better power handling and improved reliability.
ENGINEERED LEAD-WIRE SYSTEM: Carefully engineered lead-wire design and attachments ensure controlled, quiet lead-wire behavior under the most extreme excursion demands.
FCAM™ TECHNOLOGY: This “floating cone attach method†of bonding the surround/cone assembly to the voice coil former/spider structure ensures proper surround geometry in the assembled speaker for better excursion control and dynamic voice coil alignment.
OVERROLLâ„¢ SURROUND TECHNOLOGY: By utilizing space that is otherwise wasted in conventional speakers, this groundbreaking innovation controls the W6v3 subwoofer's massive excursion without sacrificing precious cone area.
POLE-VENT AIRFLOW CONTROL (PVAC): Thermal management is essential in high-powered subwoofers. JL Audio PVAC technology directs and increases air velocity to effectively reduce voice coil temperature and help improve audio fidelity and reliability.
TERMINAL JUMPER SYSTEM: W6v3 subwoofers are equipped with dual voice coils that must be connected correctly to the amplifier (in series or parallel), using the terminal jumper system to support proper subwoofer operation.
Engineering enhancements are ongoing and may not be reflected in the pictures, videos and specifications.

* For one-way linear excursion (Xmax), specs are derived via one-way voice coil overhang method with no correction factors applied.
** All enclosure volumes listed above are net internal volumes! Driver displacement, port displacement and brace displacement must be added to obtain the final gross internal volume. All enclosure dimensions above have already taken this into account. When using multiples in a common enclosure you will need to recalculate the enclosure and port dimensions. For assistance please contact your authorized JL Audio dealer or JL Audio Technical Support.
*** Grille sold separately. See JL Audio SGR-12W6v2/v3 for the 12-inch black steel mesh grille insert available for the 12-inch W6v2 and 12W6v3 subwoofers.
JL Audio notes: The enclosure recommendations listed above are external dimensions which assume the use of 3/4-inch (0.75 in; 19 mm) thick material. If you are using 5/8-inch (0.625 in; 16 mm) thick material, subtract 1/4 inch (0.25 in; 6.5 mm) from each dimension. Do not use any material with a thickness of less than 5/8ths inch (0.625 in; 16 mm) as this may compromise the rigidity of the enclosure.
JL Audio recommends the use of this in a bi-amplified system using high-quality satellites and a high-quality amplifier. They do not recommend the use of this with a passive crossover (coil), as this type of device will adversely affect performance.
Due to continual development, product and specifications are subject to change without notice. Garmin, JL Audio and its agents are not responsible for typographical errors.
