MAX POWER AT ANY VOLTAGE OR IMPEDANCE: Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply is a tightly controlled design that maintains full power output from any impedance between 1.5 and 4 Ohms per channel and at any supply voltage from 11 to 14.5 Volts.

STUDIO-GRADE SIGNAL PROCESSING: Selectable 12-decibel/octave (Butterworth) or steep 24-decibel/octave (Linkwitz-Riley) filters with calibrated potentiometer make it easy to extract optimum performance from your speaker and subwoofer systems.

ADVANCED ROLLBACK PROTECTION: A proprietary protection circuit monitors the amplifier's thermal condition, rolling back peak output power until the amplifier cools down to a safe operating temperature.

JL Audio notes: These amplifiers are designed for operation in vehicles with 12 V, negative-ground electrical systems. Use of these products in vehicles with positive ground and/or voltages other than 12 V may result in damage to the product and will void the warranty. These products are not certified or approved for use in aircraft. Many vehicles employ small (10 AWG at 6 AWG) wire to ground the battery to the vehicle chassis and to connect the alternator's positive connection to the battery. To prevent voltage drops, these wires should be upgraded to 4 AWG pure copper wire when installing amplifier systems with main fuse ratings above 60 A.

JL Audio does not recommend the use of "copper-clad aluminum wire" or " CCA" wire because such wire is significantly less conductive than pure copper wire. Only use pure copper wire, such as JL Audio's Premium Power Wire. Tinned copper wire (silver color) is acceptable as the tin-plating is only a very minor component of the wire.

The HD Series of amplifiers cannot be strapped, e.g., bridged externally. JL Audio warns, "Do not attempt to 'bridge' the outputs of the [HD Series] amplifier with the outputs of a second amplifier, including an identical one." Main front or rear channel bridging is available for the multi-channel HD amplifiers, see product manuals for specifics.

To ensure the HD Series amplifier's proper heat management and cooling, JL Audio recommends at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space above the amplifier's outer shell be provided if mounting under a seat. If enclosing the amplifier in a small, poorly ventilated chamber, JL Audio recommends a fan to aid ventilation. They also note, "In normal applications, fan-cooling is not necessary."
